Seattle Times Customer Support Assistant
The position works for the New Media Operations team focusing on internal and external customer and product support for the Seattle Times network of sites with special emphasis on our classifieds sites – NWautos, NWhomes, NWapartments, and NWjobs. The position is a subject matter expert on the web based administrative tools that manages ad content, listings and private party and business self service and packages. S/he will work with Sales and their customers as well as private party customers to setup accounts and execute on packages. S/he will also troubleshoot issues reported in the systems and work with New Media technical groups and support contacts at 3rd party vendors who host the content in question to address problems.

Position Outline:
Serve as the primary resource for data extracts and data management and queries from multiple databases for the Circulation department, including requests for marketing, acquisition, volume, analytical or research needs.
Use strong consultative skills to gain a clear understanding of objectives to provide additional perspective on data, summaries, and database strategies.
Work with mostly internal clients (sometimes external) to develop queries, reports, and data extracts in support of forecasting, performance management, acquisition efforts, and retention analysis.
Produce requested data results in customer-friendly formats, including tables, charts, and mapping, and provide further consultation or data explanations as needed.
Help establish and implement and practice procedures to ensure ongoing data hygiene.
Assist with user system access and training on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Requirements (including physical capabilities):
Technical aptitude, ability to work with complex data sets and provide accurate and timely results. Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities. Proficiency with MS Office suite, particularly Excel and Access. Some SQL, iQube, MaaX experience a plus.
Preferred Experience:
Four year college degree or equivalent experience. College degree in Business Administration and/or marketing preferred.
Minimum three years relevant work experience, preferably in the print media industry.

Provide maintenance support to all areas of production. Maintain and repair a broad scope of machinery and equipment. Analyze problems, implement solutions, and manufacture parts as needed to ensure timely repairs and a smooth running operation
Minimum Requirements (including physical capabilities):
High School Diploma or GED. Completion of a Machinist apprenticeship or acceptable equivalent experience. Computer literacy and ability to clearly communicate information, both verbal and written.
Preferred Experience:
Two years experience as a journey-level machinist. Experience in newspapers or similar work preferred.
