IT Consultant / Support Entry Level Position (Seattle)
Job Description
Provide on-site and remote support for small businesses working with Microsoft products and compatible software and hardware solutions
Troubleshoot and repair computers/software/networking problems.
Setup new computers and network equipment.
Clean viruses and tune up computers.
Office work: entering time, job descriptions, maintaining client information, learning and implementing new hardware and software solutions.
Sales: recommending new hardware and software solutions where applicable.
Qualifications
College degree - any kind - does not have to be computer science
Computer related certification – MSCE – Network Plus – Cisco – anything IT related a plus – must complete a certification if hired
Understanding TCP/IP, routers and VPNs a plus
Professional Appearance – you will be on-site most of the time working directly with clients
Solid work ethic
Honesty and Integrity – maintain confidentiality with clients passwords and other data
Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Transportation – you have to have a reliable car – you will be reimbursed for mileage/parking
Live in or near Seattle, preferably North Seattle – majority of clients are in Seattle
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills with attention to Detail – applied to computer, networking and software – but if you can repair or upgrade your car, bike or home appliance neatly and reliably you have the skills.
Hardware – building new computers, replacing hard drives, power supplies, dismantling laptops and being able to successfully put them back together is a huge Plus
Microsoft product knowledge -Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003/2008, SBS 2003/2008, Exchange, SQL and Office a plus
Other IT product knowledge a plus for Symantec Endpoint, Symantec Backup Exec, Quickbooks, Sonicwall and Linksys/Netgear routers, switches and wireless products a plus
Ability to lift at least 50lbs – a computer, server or printer
Speak and write in English
Compensation
You will be compensated according to your experience level and performance. Mileage and parking are reimbursed.
