Phoenix Games first opened it's doors on April 2, 2004.
On December 28th, 2003 Wizards Of The Coast announced the permanent closure of all of its retail stores nationwide. With stores in every corner of the nation, a large void was suddenly created in the specialty game market. Many amazing games you would never find in a "big-box" retailing outlet suddenly lost their largest cheerleader and market. Brian Cobos, an employee and multi-unit manager for the game store chain in the Seattle metro area, realized he'd soon be out of a job. Not quite ready to "work" for a living, he concluded there was no better time to fulfill his lifelong dream and start his own business.
Borrowing from the ancient mythological story of destruction and resurrection, Phoenix Games was born. Rising from the ashes with a single storefront, he set out to redefine the local game store image. In short, he wanted Phoenix Games to be a "mall store" without having to go to the mall.
With a clean and organized store, plenty of choices and a constantly evolving product selection, Phoenix Games is not your regular hobby shop or game store. Phoenix Games caters to both the hardcore "gamer" and family game night crowds alike. Providing friendly, helpful service and sharing a deep knowledge of, and passion for, games that span all genres, the staff at Phoenix Games possess the wonderful ability to match you to the perfect game for your needs. Introducing you to truly wonderful games you may never otherwise experience is their passion. Creating moments between friends and families that last a lifetime is their specialty.
Phoenix Games prides itself on it's continuously growing band of loyal shoppers from all over the Seattle area and beyond. Though located in south Snohomish county, Phoenix Games boasts a shopper base that spans the entire nation and Canada, and has regulars who travel from such "far away" reaches as Seattle, Redmond, Renton, Arlington and occasionally Puyallup and Tacoma. Many come to shop, but some travel that distance on occasion just to visit.
